First, the eBook version of the book is now available to pre-order from all the usual outlets – Amazon, Apple (due imminently), Kobo, Google, and B&N. The general paperback pre-order links should start popping up in the next couple of weeks.
Second, if you’ve already pre-ordered AUTUMN: INFERNO direct from Infected Books, either the limited edition hardcover or signed paperback, you should have received an email from me yesterday with details of how to download your complementary eBook copy RIGHT NOW! Please get in touch if you didn’t receive the instructions, and I’ll get the details to you asap.
Please excuse the awful pun in the title of this post – I tried (and failed) to think of an interesting way of writing about the woes of sending international post in the times of Brexit/coronavirus.
I’m from a customer service background, and I strive to make sure everything that Infected Books does is done with the reader first and foremost. Unfortunately, sometimes circumstances conspire to trip me up. I’m hugely grateful to everyone who picked up a copy of the limited edition of AUTUMN: DAWN (there are two left, if anyone’s interested). It’s easily the most beautiful looking book I’ve produced, and I’m insanely proud of it.
Every order has been signed, sealed and posted by me, and it’s been brilliant to see photos appearing on social media from all around the world when copies have arrived. Except for Canada. It seems there is a black hole in the postal system between Birmingham and Canada, and packages are taking an inordinate length of time to arrive. There’s good news, though, as I’ve heard that the first books are getting through (thanks for the update, Mike!), but I just wanted to briefly post here to apologise to Canadian readers and to let you know your books should arrive imminently. Thanks for your patience. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any concerns.
The German language edition of TRUST is released today by Voodoo Press. TRUST is a book I’m very proud of. It’s different from most of my other stuff, and it was the first of my pre-HATER Infected Books novels to be rewritten and re-released. There’s been movie interest in the novel from time to time and I think of all my books not under option, it’s the story I’d most like to see on screen. It deliberately goes against all the typical alien contact cliches, and I think original cover artist CRAIG PATON said it best when he called TRUST an anti-science-fiction novel.

The AUTUMN: AFTERMATH hardcover I’ve recently been talking about took a huge amount of time and effort to organise. All that work just so one hundred or so folks could complete their UK AUTUMN hardcover collections. You could say the effort involved was disproportional to the gains (losses, actually… I’m still in the red with this project), but I’d disagree. Whether ten people had wanted the book or ten thousand, I thought it was important to make it happen and I’m glad that I did.
I’ve loved all the positive feedback I’ve received since the books have started to arrive… people commenting on Facebook and Tweeting photographs of their name in the back. I have to say, though, Ren Gaming’s YouTube clip was the coolest thanks of all.
Welcome to my office, which became noticeably smaller yesterday following the delivery (at long last) of the limited hardcover edition of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH, published by Infected Books in collaboration with Gollancz.
Nine hours (yes, really) of signing and packing and the whole lot was delivered to a very understanding chap at the post office late last night. All orders have now been dispatched, and I wanted to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who pre-ordered the book for their support and their patience.
You’re probably sick of hearing me banging on about this by now, but I want to make sure everyone has chance to get hold of the (very) limited edition hardcover of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH which will be released at the end of January.
As I’ve said before, I’m releasing this book primarily for those folks who were collecting the UK hardcover editions from Gollancz and who were left in the lurch when Aftermath was released as paperback only. As such, numbers are going to be very, very limited. I expect to only have somewhere in the region of 150 copies printed.
I’m not planning to make any money from this. In fact, right now I’m looking at making a healthy loss! To try and mitigate my financial pain, I’ve cleared out my shelves and am selling a number of very rare advance uncorrected proofs. These are bare-bones paperback editions of my books which were produced by Thomas Dunne Books ahead of release. Find out more by visiting www.infectedbooks.co.uk or clicking the image immediately below.
And as a New Year treat for 2014, anyone who shops at www.infectedbooks.co.uk this week can help themselves to a 10% discount on their order (even on the rare proofs I just mentioned). Simply quote code ZOMBIE2014 at checkout (original, eh?!).
As promised in my last post, you can now pre-order the Infected Books/Gollancz hardcover edition of AUTUMN: AFTERMATH. Do so before 10 January and your name will be included in a special section of the book.
