I’m pleased to announce that the AUTUMN: DAWN audiobook is now available from Audible, Amazon, and Apple. The book is expertly narrated by AUBREY PARSONS and I have a number of copies to give away, courtesy of Audible. Read on to find out how to get your hands (ears) on one.
A very boring title for a post, I’m sure you’ll agree, but this is something I think is worth repeating ahead of the release of AUTUMN: DAWN next week.
My approach with books I’ve released through Infected Books is this – if you buy the paperback or hardcover, you should be able to access an eBook version for free. On the rare occasion I buy a CD, the first thing I’ll typically do is rip it to my computer so I can listen to it however/whenever I like. To my mind, it should be no different when you buy a book. You’ve paid for the story and should be able to access it where you want.
Turn to the back of most Infected Books print releases and you’ll see a page like this:
Go to the page, fill in the form, and an ePub or Kindle version of the book will be sent to you. If you buy an Infected Books title directly from www.infectedbooks.co.uk, you’ll get a download code automatically sent to you as soon as your order is placed.
I just think it’s the right thing to do. Also, so that folks have access to Infected Books titles regardless of the eBook provider they prefer, most of my independently published books are now available from Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, B&N and Amazon.
I know you’ve probably heard all this before, but AUTUMN: DAWN is the biggest IB release for a number of years so I wanted to share again.
Another area of work I’m able to catch up with now is book availability. For a frustratingly long time I’ve had gaps where there shouldn’t be, and I’m steadily putting that right. Case in point – LAST OF THE LIVING. Until now this collection has been available everywhere in print, but not as an ebook. Sorted! You can now download it from Apple Books, Kobo, B&N and Google Play.
LAST OF THE LIVING is a collection of novellas and short stories focusing on those who’ve survived the unthinkable. Some thrive while others disintegrate; some fight while others capitulate. But no matter how each individual survivor reacts, one thing is certain: nothing will ever be the same again.
Ebooks were absolutely fundamental to me finding an audience back in the day, so I always like to give the annual READ AN EBOOK WEEK a mention. If you read German, can I cheekily recommend my recent release LEBENSHALTUNGSKOSTEN. Or, if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, why not check out THE LAST BIG THING, which has recently been added to the program.
Or here’s an even better idea… visit a site like SMASHWORDS or AMAZON, shell out a few quid and take a punt on a brand new author.
I was sorry to hear about the death of Amazon’s Matchbook today. Matchbook allowed readers to get heavily discounted or free versions of the print books they bought from the site.
As a writer and a publisher, I believe in fairness and in not ripping off my readers. I think if you buy a print version of an Infected Books title, you should automatically get an eBook version too. Matchbook helped me to do that. But there is an alternative solution. Buy a signed copy of one of my Infected Books releases and you’ll be able to download an eBook version immediately. Conversely, if you’ve bought a digital version and you’d like a signed print version as well, you can let me know and I’ll discount the print book by the cost of the eBook you’ve already bought*.
My mission to get audiobook versions of all my novels published is a little closer to completion as STRAIGHT TO YOU has just been released. It’s superbly narrated by Matthew Jackson, and I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out. You can listen to a sample here, or grab a copy from Audible, Amazon or iTunes.
The sun is dying. The temperature around the world is rising by the hour with no sign of any respite. At this rate the planet will soon become uninhabitable; all life extinguished. It might be weeks away, it might be days…we may only have hours remaining. Society is crumbling. The burning world is descending into chaos.
Steven Johnson’s wife is hundreds of miles away and all that matters is reaching her before the end. He has to act now, no time to stop and think. Every second is precious. Tomorrow is too late.
“Straight To You deserves to be ranked alongside such classics as The Stand and Swan Song.” –Ginger Nuts of Horror
“A truly breath-taking and awe-inspiring read from an undeniable master of this sub-genre.” –DLS Reviews
The magnificent Gerard Doyle has narrated the audiobook adaptation of ALL ROADS END HERE, and it’s out now from Macmillan Audio. You can get it from Amazon, Audible and iTunes. Here’s a sample:
I’m getting a lot of queries from folks at the moment about audio versions of the first three HATER books. They are available, but only in the US at present. I’m currently asking questions to see if anything can be done to make them available elsewhere. Please bare with me.
My ongoing mission to make my entire back catalogue available as audiobooks continues with the release of THE COST OF LIVING. This is an absolutely phenomenal production by Brian Portsmouth, and even if you’ve read the book I’d recommend giving it a listen. Written in first person, Brian’s added a whole new layer of characterisation to the story with his narration, and that makes that bittersweet ending so much harder to swallow. I’m really pleased with how this one’s turned out, and I hope you enjoy it. THE COST OF LIVING is available now from Amazon, Audible and iTunes.
A dark and dirty horror novel from David Moody, author of Hater and Autumn.
A spate of brutal murders occur in and around the small town of Thussock. The bodies of the dead – savagely mutilated, unspeakably defiled – are piling up with terrifying speed. There are no apparent motives and no obvious connections between the victims, but the killings only began when Scott Griffiths and his family arrived in Thussock…
I was sorry to hear that SHELFIE closed down last week. You might remember me posting about the service a couple of years ago, back when the company was known as BitLit. The premise, I thought, was brilliant: you took a photo of your bookshelf with your phone and the Shelfie app scanned the spines and gave you links to download free or discounted ebook copies of the titles you already owned. I immediately made all Infected Books titles available via the service, because it seemed to fit perfectly with my ethos that a reader should only ever have to buy the same book once, and if you buy a paperback, the ebook version should come bundled (because you can rip a CD and get mp3s for your phone, but you can’t buy a paperback and rip the text for your Kindle, can you?).
I thought now would be an ideal time to restate the Infected Books ebook philosophy:
if you buy a print version of an Infected Books title, you can get a free download of the ebook version:
If you purchase from Amazon, all IB titles are available under the terms of their Matchbook programme
If you purchase from IB, you’ll automatically receive a download link to get your ebook
If you purchase from elsewhere, you just need to complete a simple form on www.infectedbooks.co.uk to receive a download code to get a complementary ebook version
Thanks for your ongoing support of Infected Books and independent publishing as a whole. It’s the future! (and on the subject of the future, it’s worth pointing out that my next release, THE FRONT: RED DEVILS will also be a part of the IB print/ebook deal).
