I’d like to tell you a bit about SHADOWLOCKED, my next novel.
This one is a real departure for me. It’s my first standalone novel for almost a decade (since STRANGERS in late 2014). It features no zombies, no deadly infections, no alien invasions… in fact no apocalyptic scenarios of any description. It’s a very different kind of story – one that I’ve had brewing for more than twenty years, believe it or not.
The book will be released as a limited edition hardcover, paperback, audiobook, and eBook on 20 May 2024. As usual, the hardcover will only be available direct from Infected Books. I’ve told you what it’s not, so what is SHADOWLOCKED about? Here’s a brief blurb.
Heading home after a night of celebration, Adam and Lucy Logan are involved in a horrific road rage incident. Their car is forced off a bridge and ends up at the bottom of a swollen, fast-flowing river. Adam survives but Lucy drowns, trapped inside the sinking wreck.
When he’s released from hospital, Adam vows to hunt down the driver responsible for his wife’s death and take revenge. But according to the police there was no other car. The roads around the bridge were empty. Theirs was the only vehicle on the road at the time.
Distraught and disorientated, Adam’s world is again turned upside down when Lucy reappears. She’s in a halfway state, stuck between real and imaginary, trapped between light and shade. She’s shadowlocked.
Is she an injury-induced hallucination, a by-product of a damaged brain, or has he been handed an impossible second chance with the woman he thought he’d lost forever? Adam won’t rest until he uncovers the truth about why Lucy died and why she has returned from the grave. But the answers he finds will leave him questioning everything else.
