Today sees the release of the first new AUTUMN novel since 2012. AUTUMN: DAWN – book one of the London trilogy – is available from all the usual locations (links below). I’m thrilled with how the book turned out, but don’t take my word for it. Here’s a great blurb from the brilliant CRAIG DILOUIE:
“David Moody’s AUTUMN: DAWN breathes new life into my favourite undead series. Moody brings his trademark approach to a zombie world: interesting and realistic characters, organic conflict, and always, always, the dramatic and horrifying struggle to survive in a world overrun by the dead.” –Craig DiLouie, author of THE CHILDREN OF RED PEAK
I wanted to thank everyone who ordered the limited edition of the book. All orders have now been despatched around the world. I’d hoped to have got them out sooner, but last minute delays with the printers scuppered that. Hopefully they should start being received in the next couple of days.
If you missed out, there are a handful of copies remaining, as well as signed paperbacks. Order them from www.infectedbooks.co.uk.
AUTUMN: DAWN is available in print (Amazon, Book Depository, Book Shop, Indiebound), and as an ebook (Amazon, Apple, Kobo, Google, B&N). An audiobook version and German translation will be released shortly.
A very boring title for a post, I’m sure you’ll agree, but this is something I think is worth repeating ahead of the release of AUTUMN: DAWN next week.
My approach with books I’ve released through Infected Books is this – if you buy the paperback or hardcover, you should be able to access an eBook version for free. On the rare occasion I buy a CD, the first thing I’ll typically do is rip it to my computer so I can listen to it however/whenever I like. To my mind, it should be no different when you buy a book. You’ve paid for the story and should be able to access it where you want.
Turn to the back of most Infected Books print releases and you’ll see a page like this:
Go to the page, fill in the form, and an ePub or Kindle version of the book will be sent to you. If you buy an Infected Books title directly from www.infectedbooks.co.uk, you’ll get a download code automatically sent to you as soon as your order is placed.
I just think it’s the right thing to do. Also, so that folks have access to Infected Books titles regardless of the eBook provider they prefer, most of my independently published books are now available from Apple Books, Kobo, Google Play, B&N and Amazon.
Another area of work I’m able to catch up with now is book availability. For a frustratingly long time I’ve had gaps where there shouldn’t be, and I’m steadily putting that right. Case in point – LAST OF THE LIVING. Until now this collection has been available everywhere in print, but not as an ebook. Sorted! You can now download it from Apple Books, Kobo, B&N and Google Play.
LAST OF THE LIVING is a collection of novellas and short stories focusing on those who’ve survived the unthinkable. Some thrive while others disintegrate; some fight while others capitulate. But no matter how each individual survivor reacts, one thing is certain: nothing will ever be the same again.
“British horror at its absolute best” —Starburst Magazine
As you’ve probably noticed, over the last couple of years we’ve been working to increase the availability of my Infected Books titles in different formats. Recently the focus has been on ISOLATION which, as you might recall, was released as an audiobook in December just gone. I’m pleased to report that ISOLATION: GESCHICHTEN AUS DER WELT DER UNTOTEN (Stories from the World of the Undead) – the German language version of the book – is out now.
This book has always been one of my favourites. You might remember it started life as the script of a short film which, unfortunately, never saw the light of day. When ISOLATION came out in 2014 I desperately needed a break from the living dead, so I took the opportunity to include a few zombie shorts I’d had rattling around alongside the titular novella. I’m very proud of this collection, and I hope you enjoy it. The German edition is available here, the English version is here, the audiobook is here, and you can find the story in print (alongside THE COST OF LIVING) in LAST OF THE LIVING.
Hello! Long time no speak. I’ve had my head down writing AUTUMN: DAWN for the last couple of months, and haven’t had much chance to come up for air. If you’re interested, I’m having a total blast diving deep into the world of AUTUMN again. I needed the long(ish) break from zombies, but I don’t think I’ll ever really stop writing about them.
Back in 2014, though, I thought the undead and I were going to part company forever. I wanted to move onto something new, and I decided to release a couple of zombie novellas to celebrate. The first was THE COST OF LIVING, which was quickly followed by ISOLATION (and both stories were collected in the LAST OF THE LIVING paperback).
Keith’s in his early twenties. No girlfriend, no hobbies, no future. He spends his days working in an office and his evenings, weekends and just about all his free time looking after his alcoholic dad.
And then the zombie apocalypse changes everything.
Suddenly Keith’s free. For the first time in a long time, he’s got nothing to worry about (apart from several hundred thousand reanimated corpses heading his way).
But then he meets Anna, and everything changes again. Cocky, cool, confident… she’s everything Keith isn’t. Holed-up together in an isolated bungalow, besieged by the living dead, will they survive, or will they tear each other apart before the dead get anywhere near?
I’m pleased to announce that, at long last, ISOLATION is available as an audiobook from AUDIBLE and APPLE. Chris Lawson (follow him on Twitter at @ChrisMLawson) did a fine job of narrating Keith and Anna’s tragic decline in a municipal park surrounded by tens of thousands of zombies.
I have a few promo codes to share. If you’d like a copy of the book, please complete the form below. Numbers are limited, and I’m afraid the offer is restricted to UK and US only (Audible’s restriction, not mine).
Your details will ONLY be used for the purposes of sending an Audible promotion code to you. The codes will be issued over the next few days. Feel free to claim a couple of books. All I ask in return is an honest review once you’re done listening.
Over the years, many people have found their way to my books via the AUTUMN and HATER novels or through the collaborations I’ve worked on with other authors such as THE BLEED and THE FRONT. As a result, it sometimes feels like my standalone novels fall through the cracks. For that reason, I’ve put together a reasonably priced eBook box-set of three already reasonably priced books – STRAIGHT TO YOU, TRUST and STRANGERS.
Thanks to DAVID SHIRES for handling the artwork.
Ebooks were absolutely fundamental to me finding an audience back in the day, so I always like to give the annual READ AN EBOOK WEEK a mention. If you read German, can I cheekily recommend my recent release LEBENSHALTUNGSKOSTEN. Or, if you’re a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, why not check out THE LAST BIG THING, which has recently been added to the program.
The German language edition of THE COST OF LIVING – LEBENSHALTUNGSKOSTEN – is now available from Amazon. If you’ve not read THE COST OF LIVING before, allow me to recommend it to you. It’s a nasty little tale about a particularly horrible infection doing the rounds. I wrote it back in 2014 when I was at a low ebb, and the ending in particular reflects my grim state of mind at the time.
LEBENSHALTUNGSKOSTEN is available to download now. THE COST OF LIVING is also available as an audiobook and in print as part of LAST OF THE LIVING. Special thanks to Jasmin Kraft for translating the story, and to David Shires for adapting his original artwork.
More people have been saying nice things about CHOKEHOLD. 2bookloversreviews said: “Authors are able to accomplish some incredible things: they create worlds that captivate people, they imagine characters that complete strangers connect with, they make people forget, temporarily, about the normal lives they live. David Moody has accomplished all of this with his Hater world.”
And I was equally pleased with AintitCool’s feedback (even though they got my name wrong in the headline!): “The novel is a speedy downhill slalom race to the final war between the Haters and Unchanged. There’s no air to breathe, every page is crisp and determined. As characters you love draw to their unfortunate ends, you’re left in their ashes wondering if anyone will make it out alive. It’s everything a novel on war should feel like. Desolate and relentless, no one is safe here. David Moody has put together a completely satisfactory end to this trilogy.”
To celebrate, and because it’s that time of year, I thought I’d join the rest of the world and launch a sale. From now until Monday 2 December, you can get 20% off any order of signed books at www.infectedbooks.co.uk. Just make sure you use the code INFECTEDXMAS at checkout.
