The first part of an interview I did with Vatikanet, a programme on www.srib.no (a student radio station in Norway) has just gone live. Click here to listen to the podcast.
Damn fine author (see this post) and marketing genius Scott Sigler is hitting the road for a 20 date bar tour of the US in support of the limited edition hardback release of ‘The Rookie’. Tour dates are as follows:
Set in a lethal pro football league 700 years in the future, Scotts says ‘The Rookie’ combines the intense gridiron action of “Any Given Sunday” with the space opera style of “Star Wars” and the criminal underworld of “The Godfather.” You can find out more about ‘The Rookie’ by clicking here or on the banner below.
Order through Scott’s site and use the coupon code “ALOHA” and get a $3 discount!
I made a mistake which was preventing this site’s registration process from working. I don’t know how long it’s been broken, but it’s fixed now. If you’ve tried registering recently and not been able to, please try again. Sorry for any inconvenience. I am a hack.
Thanks to Craig for making me aware. That’s another one I owe you, Craig!
If you’re a fan of zombies, either in print or on screen, chances are you’re already aware of the Revenant Magazine website. For several years it’s been a great online resource for zombie followers, boasting a wealth of living dead news, interviews, reviews and more. In recent years they’ve expanded and now host an annual zombie film festival (click here for details of this years event).
This week the editors have announced that Revenant is about to make its debut in print form with the release in September of Issue #0. It already looks like being a great read and, particularly in view of the current economic climate, the team deserve applause and support for taking this step. I wish them every success with this new venture and I’ll be sending them plenty of HATER and AUTUMN news over the coming months. If you’ve got any interest in zombies at all (and as you’re visiting this site and know what my books are about I guess you have), please try and get hold of a copy.
I’ve added a new forum to www.djmoody.co.uk which is integrated with this blog (to make it easier to discuss the stuff I post about). Please sign up (use the ‘Log In’ link above or the ‘Register’ link on the sidebar to the right) and get posting about Autumn, Hater, the upcoming movies or whatever else you want to discuss! When I post an entry here, a corresponding topic will automatically be created in the forum. You can either go straight to the forum or use the ‘comments’ function to get talking to me and other readers.
There’s plenty of good stuff coming up to talk about!
Congratulations to my friends at Permuted Press who’ve announced a deal with Pocket Books (a division of Simon & Schuster) to release seven of their titles including ‘Day by Day Armageddon‘, ‘Down the Road‘ and ‘Plague of the Dead‘.
This is absolutely great news. Jacob Kier (owner of Permuted) and I started out around the same time and we first crossed paths when my story ‘Home’ appeared in the first Permuted title – ‘The Undead‘. For several years we ran reciprocal adverts for each other – I carried PP ads in my ‘Infected Books’, Jacob carried adverts for the ‘Autumn‘ books in PP titles.
I’m absolutely thrilled for him and all the authors involved because they’ve shown yet again how independent publishing can and does work. It’s fast becoming a viable alternative way to market for a lot of authors. In fact, my US publisher Thomas Dunne Books is now taking pre-orders for ‘John Dies at the End‘ – another book which was initially self-published on-line before being released by Permuted. Movie rights to the book have been sold to Don Coscarelli, director of ‘Bubba Ho-Tep‘ and the ‘Phantasm‘ films.
Congratulations again to Jacob and all the Permuted authors involved in this deal. I’m stoked for all of them!
Earlier this week, this site was made ‘Blog of the Day’ by Fuelmyblog. They asked me a few questions about my site and writing, and my answers can be found here.
Oh, and they sent me a cool little award! Here it is!
I’ve added a Frequently Asked Questions section to the site. Hopefully it’ll save people waiting weeks on end for answers to their emails! I do try and answer everything I get, it’s just that there’s a lot going on right now and much of it is out of my control! If you have a question that isn’t answered by the FAQs, please visit the Contact page and send it to me.
By the way, I’m not going all ‘Ringo Starr‘ here! I really appreciate all the forum messages, emails and the comments left here that I get sent. I just want people to get their questions answered quickly!
At the bottom of the page you’ll see a little box. Enter your email address here and you’ll be automatically updated whenever the FAQ page is changed.
Welcome back to www.djmoody.co.uk! I’ve been off-line for several months and it’s good to be back. Hopefully this new blog/website will mean I’m able to post more news with more speed and get your feedback just as quickly! The old version of the site was pretty inflexible and was becoming too cumbersome (both to maintain and to use). This is all new to me, so please let me know if you come across any problems…
Lots has happened in the last 12 months, most of which has already been documented in one way or another. But by means of a quick catch-up…
- HATER is being re-published in 2009. The UK and US editions will be released in February with Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, Brazil, Russia and Poland to follow in the coming months.
- The AUTUMN series will also be republished shortly. More details will be posted here as soon as they’re available.
- INFECTED BOOKS is no more. I’ve closed down the business in order to concentrate on writing.
- The HATER movie is in pre-production. The film is being directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) and produced by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy I & II, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Hobbit) and Mark Johnson (The Chronicles of Narnia movies).
- The AUTUMN movie (starring Dexter Fletcher and David Carradine) has been completed and has a distributor. Click here for the trailer. More information will be available soon when the AUTUMN website is relaunched.
