Dirty Day and more on the way

I’ve literally just finished my next novel, DIRTY DAY. When I say I’ve finished, of course, I don’t actually mean it. More accurately, what I mean is I’ve finished writing and re-writing (and re-writing) the novel, and it’s now at a point where I’m happy to share it. The first recipient will be my agent, closely followed by my trusted band of beta readers (see below).

This book has been an absolute joy to write. Putting it together has been reminiscent of writing the first HATER novel back in 2006 in the way it has flowed and the connection I’ve felt with the characters. It’s a real-time novel, in that it’s written minute-by-minute and there are no chapters as such. It covers two hours in the life of our ‘hero’ Isaac Kovack. Isaac’s had a run of bad luck recently, and an opportunity to reverse the tide unexpectedly lands in his lap (in the toilets of Brent Cross shopping centre, of all places). Over the course of the frantic 100+ minutes that follow, Isaac finds himself at the centre of a national…

Seriously. You don’t think I’m going to give away the plot just yet, do you?

The one nugget of information I will share is that this book is a prequel to THE SPACES BETWEEN – a long gestating horror/science-fiction series that I’ve been planning to write for the last decade and a half.

As I mentioned, I’ll be sending the book to my beta readers shortly, and I’d like to recruit a few more. Details of how to volunteer will be included in the next issue of my newsletter – THE INFECTED – which will be landing in inboxes in the next couple of weeks. To get on the list, sign-up here.

Mailing list subscribers are in for another imminent bonus. I’m about to start work on two more novels – KEMBERTON and LAST NIGHT. I’m saying very little about LAST NIGHT at the moment, but I’m going to be doing the opposite with KEMBERTON. KEMBERTON is a full-on horror novel which will be serialised for mailing list members chapter by chapter as it’s written. I think it’s going to be a blast.
